The Ultimate Hyperoptic Broadband Deals Guide

Hyperoptic is a fibre-to-the-premises ISP (Internet Service Provider) offering download speeds between 50Mbps and 1,000Mbps. It's currently only available to a very limited number of households in the UK but its availability is on the rise as in April 2022, Hyperoptic announced that they have successfully installed FTTP technology into 825,000 homes and businesses. This number is expected to rise by an additional 400,000 by the end of 2022.

Hyperoptic delivers some of the fastest broadband speeds throughout the UK and continues to focus its services on newly-built homes and apartment blocks.

Types of Hyperoptic Broadband Packages

The download and upload speeds that you can receive with Hyperoptic depends on the plan that you choose. All options are available with a home phone or without one. Here are the four broadband packages that Hyperoptic offer:

  • Fast - 50Mbps
  • Superfast - 150Mbps
  • Ultrafast - 500Mbps
  • Hyperfast - 1000Mbps (1Gbps)

Hyperoptic's Fast Broadband

This package is great for those looking for a broadband package that they can always depend on. With average download speeds of 50Mbps and upload speeds of 5Mbps, it will still be able to handle activities such as streaming HD videos and playing online games.

Superfast Broadband

Hyperoptic's superfast broadband has average download and upload speeds of 150Mbps. This package is perfect for larger households that enjoy using many different devices all at the same time to carry out different tasks. Superfast broadband can handle both 4K and HD video streaming, large file downloads, online gaming, and many other demanding tasks.

Ultrafast Broadband

The ultrafast broadband package provides its customers with download and upload speeds of 500Mbps. This broadband plan is great for households who desire some of the fastest broadband speeds available. All residents will be able to game, stream videos, work from home, and download large files simultaneously.

Hyperfast Broadband

Hyperfast gives you average download and upload speeds of 900Mbps. The 'up to' speed is 1,000Mbps download and upload (1Gbps). With this package, you'll get some of the fastest speeds known to man and there'll never be any slowdown or buffering, no matter how heavy your internet usage may be.

Why Pick Hyperoptic Broadband?

Gigabit broadband

This is sometimes called 'ultrafast' broadband, but since that term is often used to describe any connection over 300Mbps, 'gigabit' is more apt. A gigabit is 1,000Mbps, or 1Gbps. This is the top speed advertised by Hyperoptic, though Hyperoptic states that the majority of its users should expect an average download speed of 900Mbps.

Symmetrical Connection

The majority of broadband providers, except Hyperoptic, offer upload speeds that are in some cases a mere fraction of their advertised download speeds. Not so with Hyperoptic, which offers identical upload and download speeds. This can be very useful for online gaming, cloud computing, hosting a server and many small business applications.

A Wide Variety of Contract Choices

There are a number of providers that offer this same feature, but unlike other providers, Hyperoptic offers its 30-day contracts at the same price as its yearly ones. However, you will pay a small up-front cost for 30-day contracts on two out of four of its packages.Hyperoptic also offers customers with 24 month contracts, these contracts may be the most viable option as each package is £2 cheaper, per month, than it would be if you were to opt for a 12 month contract.

No Landline Necessary

If you're lucky enough to live somewhere where you can get Hyperoptic broadband, you can choose to have the broadband package without a landline (unlike most other providers).

Excellent Customer Service

Hyperoptic has one the highest customer ratings on Trustpilot of any popular internet service provider (ISP) in the UK, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 at the time of writing (September 2022).

24/7 Customer Support

With Hyperoptic, you'll get tech support at any time of day throughout the week. This means that there'll never be a long period of time where your needs can't be met.

Hyperoptic Broadband FAQs

Is Hyperoptic broadband expensive?

Hyperoptic's broadband packages are decently priced for the lightning fast download and upload speeds that you can receive. Similar to most other ISP's, the higher the speeds, the more the package will cost you. Adding a home phone to your package will also increase your monthly fee.

These are the current prices for all four of Hyperoptic's broadband deals:

Broadband Only Packages

  • Fast - £17.99
  • Superfast - £20.00
  • Ultrafast - £30.00
  • Hyperfast - £35.00

Broadband and Phone Packages

  • Fast - £19.99
  • Superfast - £22.00
  • Ultrafast - £32.00
  • Hyperfast - £37.00

Which router will I get with Hyperoptic?

On Hyperoptic, you'll get one of two Hyperhub broadband routers:

The ZTE Hyperhub (ZTE H298A) is provided on the entry-level Fast (50Mbps) and Superfast (150Mbps) broadband plans.

What is the difference between the Nokia Hyperhub and the ZTE Hyperhub?

The standard ZTE Hyperhub only supports up to 1,167Mbps on Wi-Fi. This is because it only has 4 Wi-Fi antennas.

The Nokia Hyperhub is Hyperoptic's new premium router. It offers better Wi-Fi performance compared to the regular Hyperhub with total transfer speeds of up to 2,920Mbps. In addition, the Nokia Hyperhub has automatic Wi-Fi band steering as well as support for Nokia Beacon mesh wi-fi technology. This is made possible by the use of 7 Wi-Fi antennas.

Is there an installation fee?

All Hyperoptic broadband deals come with free installation. An engineer will stop by your property in order to install your Hyperoptic broadband, this can be booked six days a week at a time which suits you best. The installation process will usually take around an hour and once the process is complete, you'll be able to activate your broadband straight after.

With both Hyperoptic's fast and superfast broadband packages, there is an activation fee of £29 that you'll be charged so ensure to look out for that. Fortunately, their ultrafast and hyperfast deals don't have an activation fee.

Can I get Hyperoptic without a landline?

Yes, you can. You'll be able to receive all Hyperoptic packages either as a broadband-only deal, or with a landline included. It's completely up to you!

Is Hyperoptic broadband available in my area?

Although Hyperoptic continues to expand its reach in the UK, there is still limited access to Hyperoptic's packages.

If Hyperoptic is not available in your area just yet, you can register your interest in their services online. If a large number of people in your area also register their interest, Hyperoptic will provide fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology to your area.
